Description:
Road Trip #1137 – US Highway 1 North – Florida Mile 33-47 | Spanish Harbor Key / Bahia Honda Key / Missouri Key / Seven Mile Bridge

Join us for the next leg of our northbound US-1 journey, filmed March 2 2025, as we cover mile 33 to mile 47 in the Lower Florida Keys. We leave Big Pine Key, glide over Spanish Harbor Channel onto Spanish Harbor (Scout) Key—home to Boy Scout Camp Sawyer and Girl Scout Camp Wesumkee—then climb the modern Bahia Honda Bridge beside Flagler’s 1912 rail span. After touring beach-lined Bahia Honda Key State Park, we pass Ohio (Sunshine) Key’s RV resort, tiny Missouri Key, and Little Duck Key’s Veterans Memorial Park before tackling the iconic Seven Mile Bridge with panoramic views of historic Pigeon Key, concluding at Knights Key.

*About US Highway 1 in Florida*
U.S. Highway 1 is the longest north–south road in the United States, stretching over 2,300 miles from Key West, Florida to Fort Kent, Maine. In Florida, US-1 serves as a major coastal route, running parallel to the Atlantic Ocean and connecting a wide range of communities from the tropical islands of the Florida Keys to the urban centers of Miami, Fort Lauderdale, and West Palm Beach, then continuing north through the Space Coast, historic St. Augustine, and into Jacksonville before crossing into Georgia.

As we head northbound on US-1, we’ll explore the state mile by mile, beginning at Mile Zero in Key West. Along the way, this iconic highway offers a constantly changing view of Florida’s culture, landscape, and history–from coral cay archipelagos and causeways in the Keys to vibrant downtowns, sprawling suburbs, and scenic backroads on the mainland. Whether it’s the remnants of old Florida or the fast pace of modern development, US-1 remains one of the most historically significant and widely traveled routes in the state.
