2020年3月20日に任天堂よりNintendo Switch用に発売されたゲームソフト。
どうぶつの森のシリーズの第7作目(初作品は2001年4月14日にNINTENDO 64用ソフトとして発売)。

これまでのどうぶつの森シリーズでは「村」が主な舞台であったが、本作ではシリーズ初の「無人島」を舞台としている。
プレイヤーは、商店や不動産会社を営んでいた「たぬきち」が新たに始めた不動産デベロッパー「たぬき開発」による「無人島移住パッケージプラン」に参加し、手つかずの島で、たぬき開発の社長のたぬきち、同じく社員のまめきち、つぶきちと、2匹のどうぶつたちとともに一から生活をはじめることになる。

キャラクターは400種類以上。島で入手した素材で新たなアイテムを作成するシステム「DIY」など、さまざまな新要素が追加されている。
