Today’s run was one of those where the weather decided to test me every step of the way. 86° out, humidity hanging heavy in the air, and on top of that — let’s just say I unintentionally fueled with way too many bugs. That’s summer running for you: part workout, part survival game.
Even with the conditions stacked against me, I knocked out 4 solid miles at an 8:46 pace. The legs were steady, the heart rate stayed in control at 139 bpm, and while it wasn’t the most comfortable run, it was another one that adds to the foundation. These aren’t the flashy PR runs — these are the ones that harden you, where you fight the heat, the air, the fatigue, and still finish strong.
There’s something kind of satisfying about finishing a short but tough session like this. You start out questioning if it’s worth it in that thick humidity, but by the end you know you’ve banked more mental strength than anything else. And hey, extra protein from the bugs — maybe it balances out in the long run.
Another day, another run in the logbook. Heat, humidity, and bug buffet aside, I’ll take it.
