Directors Note:
“Five years ago on October 18, 2019, I received a call that my younger brother had passed away from a heroin overdose. I was 23 years old and vowed that one day I would create a film in honor of his life.

Over those five years I discovered long distance running as a space of both solace and reprieve. And after having spent the better part of those years avoiding the pain of that loss, I decided it was time to confront the trauma head on and start to find some answers. My method of doing so was to run my body ragged for 200 miles across the state of California. “Second Wind” was born out of the desire to push my physical limitations and through that, discover healing in the midst of suffering.

Our film offers a raw and inspiring look into the resilience of the human spirit. It shows that embracing physical challenges can unlock emotional healing, especially in the face of profound grief. It’s an invitation to confront limitations, find strength in vulnerability, and, ultimately, to transform suffering into purpose.”
